OU Traffic Signals and Traffic Lights
TRAFFIC SIGNALIZATION
Core business of OU Traffic Signalization consists of the production, installation and maintenance of signals (vertical, horizontal and temporary) in the City of Zagreb area. The unit comprises two sub-units:
OPERATIN UNIT The unit that directly deals with the work in the field is composed of three subunits:
Vertical traffic signalization This subunit sets up traffic signs, signposts and tourist signs, barriers, mirrors, pedestrian rails and guard rails as per the decisions of the City Office of Urban Planning, City Development, Construction, Municipal Affairs and Traffic, regularly maintains the above as requested by municipal service monitoring officers, the police, and the citizens, and according to the findings of the inspections conducted by its own patrols. Horizontal traffic signalization Its job description includes application of cross walks, lines, BUS and TAXI stop signs, arrows, cycling lanes, parking signs and pavement symbols as per the decisions of the City Office of Urban Planning, City Development, Construction, Municipal Affairs and Traffic, regular maintenance of the above as requested by municipal service monitoring officers, the police, and the citizens, and according to the findings of the inspections conducted by its own patrols. Temporary traffic signalization This subunit prepares, sets up, removes and regularly inspects temporary traffic signals for the duration of road works, occupations of public traffic areas, organisation of open construction sites, and various political, cultural and sports events (matches, concerts etc). Organisational Unit Signalization has an emergency department that is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergency interventions based on calls from the police, the citizens, the fire department or the ambulance. By acting quickly, it secures accident sites on the roads and marks accident sites in public traffic areas to prevent risks to traffic safety and to ensure interrupted and safe flow of traffic. PRODUCTION AND PREPARATION This unit prepares and produces the semi-finished products that are used as technical support for the operating unit of its organisational unit and to the other operating units in the Subsidiary (shovel and sledge handles, asphalt squeegees, various metal semi-finished products) and offers locksmith services, pipe preparation, varnishing and processing of sheets to make traffic signs, production of concrete bases, etc. The unit also prepares and produces finished products for its own needs, and sells them to third parties on the basis of purchase orders (traffic sign, signposts and tourist signs, wooden barriers). The unit comprises a metalworks plant, varnishing plant, sign/foil production plant, woodwork plant and storage. TRAFFIC LIGHTS Core business of this unit consists of preventive and corrective maintenance of the traffic lights system of the City of Zagreb. At the moment, the unit is responsible for 454 crossroads equipped with traffic lights, but their number will change as the City expands. In addition to the regular staff, the unit has an emergency department that is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Emergency unit responds to calls received from the citizens, the Subsidiary Zagreb Tram, the police, and the relevant city department. Other activities of this organisational unit include:
